Spanish reports have revealed new developments regarding the potential transfer of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s delay in advancing negotiations has left the Italian center back disappointed, despite what was described as initial openness from the player toward a possible five-year contract move to Camp Nou.
However, the report states that the Catalan club has not yet opened formal talks with Inter Milan, and no concrete offer has been submitted.
The 27-year-old defender is reportedly eager to take the next step in his career by moving to Barcelona, but he is growing frustrated by the lack of decisive action. Head coach Hansi Flick has not given final approval for the transfer, even though sporting director Deco is said to be in favour of signing him to strengthen the defensive line.
The report adds that Barcelona are now reconsidering Bastoni’s profile. While his passing ability is viewed as a strong fit for the club’s playing style, concerns have emerged regarding his suitability for Flick’s system, which requires defenders capable of covering large spaces behind a high defensive line.
As a result, Barcelona are also exploring alternative defensive targets.
Inter Milan’s valuation of around 70 million euros could further complicate any potential deal, making a transfer increasingly difficult unless negotiations progress significantly in the coming weeks.
