Barcelona released an official medical statement on Monday confirming the injuries of midfielders Pablo Gavi and Fermín López, along with their expected recovery timelines.
The club announced that Fermín López suffered an injury to his left iliopsoas muscle during the team’s recent match against Getafe, forcing him off the pitch with severe pain.
Tests carried out at the Joan Gamper Sports City ruled out any serious damage, though the midfielder is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks.
As for Pablo Gavi, Barcelona confirmed that he will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after conservative treatment failed to ease the pain caused by a radial tear in the medial meniscus.
The procedure will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Juan Carles Monllau, with the club set to issue a fresh medical report following the operation. His expected absence is around five weeks.
The loss of both players comes as a major setback for coach Hansi Flick, particularly with Barcelona facing a demanding run of fixtures, including a La Liga clash with Real Sociedad and a high-profile Champions League showdown against Paris Saint-Germain in early October.
