Barcelona FC demanded its former star Neymar to refund 10 million Euros that the Brazilian striker had "wrongly" charged while playing for the Catalan team, according to El Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

"The Barcelona administration believes it has made a wrong calculation regarding the tax count that Neymar has to pay, and on this basis it granted him an additional 10 million Euros by mistake," the newspaper said.

Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 for 222 million euros, in the biggest deal in football so far, after spending 4 seasons at Camp Nou.

Barcelona won a lawsuit against the player months ago regarding bonuses, after which Neymar was forced to pay 6.7 million euros to the club.

Barcelona is currently suffering an unprecedented financial crisis, with which it was forced to enter into difficult negotiations with the stars of the team to deduct part of their wages, up to 30%.

The debt of the Catalan club has more than doubled in one year, from 217 million euros in June 2019 to 488 million within the same month of this year.
