FC Barcelona were officially crowned champions of La Liga for the 2025-2026 season after defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 2-0 at Camp Nou on Sunday night.

The victory secured Barcelona’s 29th Spanish league title and their second consecutive championship, while also ending Real Madrid’s hopes of catching the Catalan side with three matches still remaining.

Barcelona dominated the first half and took the lead early through Marcus Rashford, who scored from a superb free kick in the ninth minute past goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 18th minute when Ferran Torres finished off a clever backheel assist from Dani Olmo to put Barcelona firmly in control.

Real Madrid thought they had pulled one back in the second half through Jude Bellingham, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The match also saw an early setback for Madrid after defender Dean Huijsen suffered an injury during the warm-up, forcing Raul Asencio into the starting lineup.

Barcelona finished the night with 91 points at the top of the table, opening a 14-point gap over second-placed Real Madrid, who remain on 77 points.

Under head coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona maintained a perfect home record in La Liga this season, winning all 18 league matches at Camp Nou.
