Bahrain Supports Egypt's Position on Nile Dam Issue

Hisham bin Mohamed Al-Jowder, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, affirmed on Tuesday that the position of Manama is clear and supportive of all efforts, stances and decisions taken by Egypt to solve the crisis of filling and operating the Renaissance Dam.

He asserted Egypt’s rights to preserve the water in accordance with the international laws, noting that his country supports Cairo’s endeavors in preserving its national and water security, protecting the interests of its people and its legitimate right to life, and its sincere efforts to achieve peace and regional stability.

The Bahraini diplomat reaffirmed King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s support to Egypt and the solidarity of the Kingdom of Bahrain with Egypt to ensure its legitimate rights in its share of the Nile water.

“This Nile represents a lifeline for the Egyptian people, and that Egypt's security is a fundamental pillar in maintaining Arab national security,” Al-Jowder said.

He added that the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed during its regular weekly meeting held last Monday under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, of its solidarity with Egypt in preserving its water security and ensuring its stability and development, affirming the Kingdom's support for the efforts made to solve the crisis of filling and operating the Renaissance Dam.

The diplomat expressed his country's pride in the leadership, government, and people of Egypt's pioneering historical role in protecting Arab national security and its keenness to safeguard Arab interests and unity of ranks among Arabs and to reinforce the foundations of peace, security and stability in the region.
