Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) continues its mission to revive the dialogue of civilizations, especially between the countries of the Mediterranean Region, and to reaffirm the city of Alexandria as a melting pot of civilizations.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, through the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med) in the Academic Research Sector, is organizing a celebration on 7 July 2021, at 6:30 pm on the BA Plaza of Civilizations.

As part of the celebration’s activities, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will host the screening of the film “A Nation by Choice,” which is the product of the partnership between the European Program of International Relations of the National Media Authority and the European Union. It deals with the youth of foreign communities belonging to “cosmopolitan” Alexandria, who chose to stay in Alexandria, the cradle of Mediterranean civilization.

Following the screening of the film, speeches will be given by a number of senior officials commenting on the topic at hand, while discussing existing partnership projects with foreign countries and future plans aimed at sustaining dialogue and cooperation.

Dr. Mostafa El Feki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, affirmed his keenness to organize this celebration in confirmation of the BA’s role of being the window of the world on Egypt and Egypt’s window on the world, as well as being a pole of civilization and a beacon spreading the values of tolerance, understanding and dialogue among peoples.
