The preliminary results of the early presidential elections held in Azerbaijan showed that the current President Ilham Aliyev won with a large percentage of about 92% of the votes of voters who cast their ballots.

The preliminary results of the early presidential elections held in Azerbaijan showed that the current President Ilham Aliyev won with a large percentage of about 92% of the votes of voters who cast their ballots.

The head of the Central Election Commission in Azerbaijan, Mazhar Benahov, said - in a press conference held tonight - that the preliminary results of the counting of voters’ votes in the early presidential elections held today came from the reality of what the committee has received, so far, in terms of counting, counting and collecting votes issued by about 54% of electoral centers.

He explained that the committee received - officially - the numerical counting work to count the votes of voters in 3,561 electoral centers out of a total of 6,537 centers, where the number of votes, according to what has been counted so far, reached 2 million, 711 thousand and 804 votes, of which the candidate Ilham Aliyev received 2 million, 497 thousand. And 542 votes, or 92.1%.

He pointed out that the preliminary results showed the distribution of the remaining votes among the other six candidates as follows: candidate Zahid Oruç 59,719 votes, or 2.2%, candidate Fadil Mustafa, 53,986 votes, or 1.99%, candidate Gudrat Hosni Guliyev, 48,315 votes, or 1.78%, and candidate Radi Nur Layev. 21,406 votes, or 0.79%, and the candidate Ilshad Musayev, 17,855 votes, or 0.66%, and Fuad Aliyev, 12,981 votes, or 0.48%.

The official final result of the elections is expected to be announced within the next few days.

The early presidential elections were held in Azerbaijan under local and international monitoring of the electoral process and its procedures, with the number of local observers reaching 89,366 observers, in addition to 790 international observers accredited to 72 international organizations from 89 countries around the world.
