Azerbaijani Parl't Comments on France's Karabakh Resolution

On Thursday, the Azerbaijani parliament issued a statement condemning the French Senate resolution,  which calls for the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent country, according to Sputnik News agency.

Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the Azerbaijani president said that Baku does not consider the French Senate resolution as an "official document".

Moreover, Hajiyev pointed out that: "The resolution raises serious questions about France's intentions and activities as a key member of the Minsk Group and a permanent member of the UN Security Council."

It is worth mentioning that, yesterday, the French Senate has passed a resolution containing a call on the government to officially recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, 305 senators out of 306 present voted for the resolution on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia signed an agreement to end the military conflict over the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh.

It follows six weeks of fighting between Azerbaijan and ethnic Armenians.
