On Monday, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev denied all claims made by Armenia's ambassador to Russia that Turkey had sent around 4,000 fighters from Syria to Azerbaijan amid fighting over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

In a statement, Aliyev added that the claims of the deployment of Syrian militants in Azerbaijan is another provocation by the Armenian side and complete nonsense.

However, the Armenian ambassador said that the fighters were taking part in fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, a region inside Azerbaijan that is run by ethnic Armenians.

the Armenian Ministry of Defense, in a statement Monday, said that fighting with Azerbaijani forces continued throughout the night and in the morning over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh

For its part, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said that Armenian forces opened fire at the town of Teter in Azerbaijan.

The region in South Caucasus is witnessing a major military escalation following violating ceasefire agreements between Yerevan and Baku, resulting in casualties.
