The Austrian Football Association has officially extended the contract of national team head coach Ralf Rangnick through 2028, reinforcing its commitment to continuity and long-term development ahead of major international competitions.
The announcement was made on the federation’s official social media channels, accompanied by the message: "The journey continues. Ralf Rangnick until 2028."
Rangnick, 65, was previously under contract until the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The new agreement adds two more years, ensuring that he will remain in charge through Austria’s upcoming international campaigns, including preparations for future European and World Cup competitions.
Since taking over the Austrian national team, Rangnick has overseen significant progress, helping establish Austria as one of Europe's most organized and competitive sides.
Austria is preparing to begin its 2026 World Cup journey in Group J, where it will face Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan. The tournament is being hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The contract extension reflects the federation’s confidence in Rangnick’s leadership and its desire to maintain stability as Austria looks to build on its recent successes on the international stage.
