On Saturday, the Australia Open 2024 competitions saw another major upset as unseeded Czech teen Linda Noskova defeated the No.1 seed and the winner of the 2023 French Open Iga Swiatek.
Swiatek's 18-match winning streak was broken after losing to Noskova to be eliminated from the tournament.
Just three of the top 10 women's seeds are still in the competition including the title holder Aryna Sabalenka, US Open 2023 champion Coco Gauf, and Barbora Krejcikova.
However, world No.6 Ons Jabeur and No.8 Maria Sakkari were eliminated from Round 2.
Round 3 also witnessed the elimination of the world's No.3 Elena Rybakina and No. 5 Jessica Pegula.
