AUC to Host Ceremony of Educamp III Project

CAIRO,Nov.11 (SEE)-The closing ceremony of the “School of 2030: Education for Sustainable Development in Boulaq El Dakrour – EduCamp III” project, will be hosted by the Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability (CARES) at the American University in Cairo (AUC).

The objective of EduCamp III was to transform schools in Egyptian remote areas into schools that meet the objectives of the country’s sustainable development strategy “Egypt 2030”.

The project which is funded by the European Union and the German government under the Participatory Development Program in urban areas is part of AUC's continuous efforts to develop education process in Egypt.

EduCamp has started in 2010 by the efforts of national and international institutions to introduce the concept of Education for Sustainable Development in Egypt (ESD) nationwide and within all education levels.

The consortium members of this project included Egyptian and European universities, NGOs, and international organizations.

The Keynote speakers are Nabila Makram, Minister of immigration and Egyptian expatriate affairs; Tarek Shawki, Minister of education; and a representative from the Participatory Development Program in Urban Areas (PDP) at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
