The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Félix Tshisekedi mourned the Chadian President Idriss Deby on Tuesday.
Tshisekedi stated that Deby’s death is a sudden loss to Chad and Africa, adding, that he “learned with dismay of the death of his counterpart and brother, Marshal Idriss Déby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad.”

He finalized that statement by sending his deep condolences to the Chadian people and the government.
The Chadian President died on Tuesday of his injuries in the fighting on the front line following clashes between the army and rebels at the border, hours after the preliminary results of the elections declared that he won a sixth term and won 79 percent of the votes, amid the escalation of violence in the central African country.
