Spanish football team Atlético Madrid will return to their old logo and crest that were used between 1947 and 2016 after a consultation of fans was held and the majority voted for a change, the club announced on Friday.

The vote came after the previous consultation which saw 44% of the club's fans showed an interest in changing the club's logo and slogan.

Another logo was featured on the club's jersey in 2021/2022 to mark the 75th-anniversary of the club, however, fans showed more interest in returning the old logo that was used between 1947 and 2016.

The statement of the club said: "The majority of the 77,690 members who participated in the vote have chosen to return to the previous crest, which will again represent the club as of July 1, 2024."

"The red and white family has given an example of passion and love for Atleti, participating massively and without any kind of incidence in such a relevant matter. This fact confirms once again the enormous commitment of our members with their team and the existence of different sensitivities that we must respect because they all add up to a common good: Atlético de Madrid," the statement continued.
