Atletico Madrid Reject Barcelona’s €100 Million Offer for Julian Alvarez

Atlético Madrid have reportedly rejected an initial €100 million offer from FC Barcelona for Argentine striker Julián Álvarez.

According to reports, Barcelona submitted an opening bid worth €100 million in fixed payments without including add-ons or player exchanges in the proposal. However, Atletico Madrid quickly turned down the offer and are only willing to begin negotiations starting from around €120 million.

Despite the rejection, Barcelona are believed to have the financial flexibility to increase their offer following improvements in the club’s Financial Fair Play situation. Still, the Catalan side had reportedly set an internal limit of €100 million for the 26-year-old forward.

Reports also indicate that Alvarez is keen on making the move to Spotify Camp Nou this summer and has already informed Atletico Madrid of his desire to join Barcelona. Personal terms between the player and the La Liga champions are also said to have been agreed.

At this stage, the main obstacle remains the transfer fee, with all parties reportedly hoping to finalize negotiations before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to avoid a prolonged summer transfer saga.
