Atletico Madrid have reportedly shifted their stance on the future of striker Julián Álvarez, with the club now open to considering offers for the forward in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Atlético’s sporting management has moved away from its earlier firm position of keeping the Argentine international, despite his importance to the squad.
Álvarez has attracted strong interest from top European clubs, including FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, who are both monitoring his situation closely ahead of the market opening.
The report indicates that Atlético’s sporting director believes a high-value transfer could provide the financial flexibility needed to strengthen multiple areas of the squad.
While the club previously denied any intention to sell the player, internal discussions have now reportedly made a major sale a realistic option under the right circumstances.
Álvarez remains under contract until 2030, with a release clause reported to be around €500 million, meaning any potential deal would require significant negotiation.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions this season.
Despite ongoing speculation, Álvarez continues to be a key figure in Diego Simeone’s squad as Atlético prepare for a decisive summer transfer window.
