Spanish club Atlético Madrid claimed victory over Italy’s Inter Milan in a dramatic penalty shootout (4–2) to lift the first-ever Reconstruction Cup, a friendly match held on Friday in Benghazi, Libya.

The match saw Atlético take the lead in the 35th minute through Martín, before Inter’s Bisseck equalized in the 59th minute, sending the game into penalties after a 1–1 draw in regular time.

During the shootout, Atlético Madrid’s Griezmann, Ruggieri, Ganieh, and Lenglet all converted their spot-kicks, while goalkeeper Juan Musso saved two penalties to secure the title for the Spanish side.

Both teams were missing several international players, but Atlético fielded key names such as Antoine Griezmann, Koke, Caligari, Almada, Giménez, and Galán, while Acerbi, Bony, Darmian, and Mkhitaryan represented Inter Milan.

The match, broadcast live on ON Sport channels, marked a historic sporting moment as Benghazi hosted the inaugural edition of the Reconstruction Cup, an event celebrating the renovation of football and sports institutions in Libya.
