Spanish club Athletic Bilbao announced on Friday that it will stage a special solidarity event for the Palestinian people at San Mamés Stadium ahead of its upcoming La Liga fixture against Real Mallorca on Saturday.
The event coincides with Athletic’s 125th anniversary celebrations, with the club emphasizing that solidarity, community, and social responsibility are core values that run deep in its identity.
The statement confirmed that the ceremony will include the participation of Palestinian refugees as well as representatives from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), highlighting both the human and symbolic dimensions of the gesture.
During the pre-match program, the slogan “Athletic with Palestine… Stop the Genocide” will be prominently displayed across the stadium, underscoring the club’s stance on the humanitarian crisis.
In addition, the Palestinian guests will be invited onto the pitch before kickoff, where they will be greeted with applause from the home crowd in a collective display of support.
