Once again the tensions between Serie A side Atalanta and Nigerian star Ademola Lookman witnessed more tensions after the player reportedly took personal leave and left Italy without the club’s permission.
The move of Lookman showed another protest of the management's refusal to approve his transfer to Inter Milan during the current summer window, according to Football Italia.
Atalanta consider taking legal action against Lookman, including the imposition of a substantial fine.
The roots of the dispute date back to last summer when the club rejected a €20 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain and convinced the player to stay—with a promise to facilitate his transfer this summer under two conditions he personally set: a move to a major European club and not to another Italian side.
However, the club's refusal of Inter’s offer has reignited the conflict. Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi emphasized that the club alone will determine the timing and valuation of any player sale.
