On Wednesday, attackers struck Taliban vehicles in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least two Taliban fighters and three civilians in the latest violence since the group's takeover of the country in mid-August, according to eyewitnesses.

"The struck began when gunmen opened fire on a Taliban vehicle at a local gas station in the provincial capital of Jalalabad, killing two fighters and a gas station attendant," eyewitnesses said.

Among the casualties were also a young child, alongside two Taliban fighters wounded in a separate attack _ a bombing of another vehicle.

In another attack, the media reported that the terrorist attack also wounded a person nearby, but it was unclear if that person was a Taliban official or not.

No one claimed immediate responsibility for Wednesday's attacks, according to international media.

However, the Islamic State militants (ISIS), which is headquartered in eastern Afghanistan, took responsibility for similar attacks in Jalalabad last week that killed eight persons.

Taliban media said the attack, which may have been a probe to test the city's defences, was repulsed with 3 killed Taliban fighters and other injured men.
