At least 20 people suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out in a hospital in the German city of Saarbrücken on Friday evening.
A city spokesperson said the blaze erupted at around 5:30 p.m. in a patient’s room on the first floor of the main hospital building.
Several of the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals, among them a member of the rescue teams.
Authorities confirmed that the entire main building was evacuated, forcing around 100 people to leave.
Due to significant fire damage, parts of the facility are no longer usable, and several patients had to be relocated to other hospitals.
Firefighting units managed to extinguish the blaze later in the evening.
The operation involved around 130 personnel from the fire brigade, emergency medical services, police, and civil defense.
Police have not yet released details on the cause of the fire, stating that investigations remain ongoing.
