Aston Villa Submit Loan Offer for Chelsea Winger Alejandro Garnacho

Aston Villa have submitted an official loan offer to sign Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho as Unai Emery pushes to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.

According to The Athletic, Villa are in advanced negotiations with Chelsea over a deal that would see the Argentina international join on an initial season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy. 

While the structure of the agreement is still being finalized, talks between the two Premier League clubs are progressing and no agreement has been completed yet.

Emery has identified Garnacho as one of his priority attacking targets after previously attempting to sign the 22-year-old before his move from Manchester United to Chelsea last summer. 

The Spanish manager's long-standing admiration for the winger is believed to have played a significant role in convincing the player that Villa Park could be the ideal destination.

Serie A side Roma have also shown interest in Garnacho, but Aston Villa are currently considered the frontrunners to secure his signature.

The proposed move is unrelated to Chelsea's club-record £117 million signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with both clubs treating the two transfers as separate negotiations.

Villa have already begun reshaping their squad following Rogers' departure by signing Johan Manzambi from Freiburg and remain determined to reinforce their wide attacking options. 

Alongside Garnacho, the club have also monitored Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye and West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Chelsea are reportedly open to allowing Garnacho to leave after an inconsistent first season at Stamford Bridge following his £40 million transfer from Manchester United last summer. 

Although he scored eight goals across all competitions, the Argentine started only 14 Premier League matches amid fierce competition for places in Chelsea's attack.

New Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has reportedly granted Garnacho additional time away from pre-season training to resolve his future before the start of the 2026-27 campaign.

Before joining Chelsea, Garnacho established himself as one of Manchester United's brightest academy graduates, making more than 140 senior appearances for the club.

However, his relationship with the Old Trafford side deteriorated before his departure, paving the way for his move across the Premier League.

Villa now hope regular first-team football under Emery could help Garnacho rediscover the form that made him one of England's most promising young attacking talents.
