Aston Villa F.C. have confirmed they will not activate the €25 million purchase option for Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz.
As a result, the 27-year-old will return to Juventus FC following the conclusion of his loan spell.
Douglas Luiz joined Aston Villa on loan from Juventus in January until the end of the season, but the Premier League club has now opted against making the move permanent.
The Brazilian previously enjoyed a successful five-year spell at Villa Park between 2019 and 2024, during which he made over 200 appearances and played a key role in helping the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
He also won Olympic gold with Brazil national football team at the Tokyo Games and was named both Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of the Season at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
Aston Villa recently capped their season by winning the UEFA Europa League title after defeating SC Freiburg in the final.
