On Friday, Dr. Khaled El Kadi, the director of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, revealed that many asteroids will come close to the Earth, therefore, many sky events lovers can observe them on the final days of 2020.

El Kadi clarified that those asteroids will not affect the Earth or crash with it as the distance between them and the earth is vast.

In the same context, Dr. Osama Rahouma, the director of Solar Research Lab, indicated that the most significant asteroid is (501647) 2014 SD224.

Since discovering it, many researchers observed its orbit and the term of its astronomical circle.

(501647) 2014 SD224 asteroid will reach its closest point to the earth on Friday, and it will shine as Pluto.

On his side, Dr. Ashraf Shaker, the head of the Astronomy Department of the institute, highlighted that those asteroids including (501647) 2014 SD224 will be observed by the institute researchers using the available telescope of various astronomical observatories such as Helwan or El Katamiya.

Moreover, a much smaller asteroid called 2020 XY will pass near the Earth According to NASA’s Close Approach table.

It is worthy to mention that the Earth witnessed a rare sky event which is the great conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn that occurred a few days ago.
