Artists Mourn Veteran Hady El Gayar

On the tenth day of 2021, Egyptian cinema lost one of its prominent figures.

"Veteran Egyptian actor Hady El-Gayar passed away at 71 due to health problems," Ashraf Zaki, head of the Actors’ Syndicate, said.

El-Gayar died shortly after he was admitted to an intensive care unit at a hospital in Al-Harm district, Giza governorate. The cause of Al-Gayar death was Coronavirus, but he had reportedly suffered from heart problems that led to a heart attack.

The funeral prayers will be held after the Asr (afternoon) prayers on Sunday at  his family’s cemetery in the 6th of October City.. Asr prayers today are held at 2:53 pm, Cairo time.

According to the Egyptian website elcinema, El-Gayar, a talented actor, was born in October 1949 in Egypt. He received his BA from the acting department at the High Institute of  Theatrical Arts in Cairo in 1963.

His first advanced breakthrough came with his role in the popular play “Madraset Elmoshaghbeen” (School of Rowdies).

El-Gayar is well-known for some of his seminal works, such as the AlKafr Delhab (2017), The Legend (2016), The Other Face (1987),“Almal wal Banun” (Fortune and Progeny), “Elraya Elbeida” (The White Flag), and “Alnawares wal Soqur” (Albatrosses and Falcons), which, the maven film director lbrahim Al-Shawady, directed.

El-Gayar’s work focused on local issues and Egyptian society. His contribution at the Egyptian cinema sector was very small, through his 1971 film “Thom Tashreq Alshams” (Then The Sun Rises), directed  by Ahmed Diaa-Aldien, and “Ihtares Esabet Alnisaa” (Watch Out for the Women's Clan) (1986).

Furthermore, he is known for joint collaborations and associations with legendary Egyptian actors like the adorable star Adel Emam and the magnificent star Ahmed Zaki.

Actors’ Syndicate mourned the death of great artist Hady El Gayar.

Meanwhile, Simon, a remarkable leading star in Egypt, published through her account on "Instagram", an obituary to the Egyptian great star El-Gayar, who was her colleague.

Simon wrote: "Survival of God, the respected actor El-Gayar... very difficult news ... God have mercy on him."

"El-Gayar's spunky spirit and zest for life will never be forgotten. Rest in peace" Shreif Mounier,  an Egyptian actor posted Sunday on Facebook.

In the same context, Mohamed Sobhi, Yousif Shaaban and also a number of TV stars and actors tweeted their memories of the late El-Gayar.

Maha Ahmed, 42, described El-Gayar as a "combination of kindness and warmheartedness."
