Arsenal will begin their 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign with a tricky away trip to Spain, as they take on Athletic Bilbao tonight at San Mamés Stadium.
The Gunners head into the clash on a high after returning to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3–0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday at the Emirates.
That result lifted Mikel Arteta’s men to nine points, placing them second in the table behind leaders Liverpool (12 points).
Bilbao, meanwhile, have made a strong start in La Liga, winning three of their first four matches to sit fourth in the standings.
This season marks their first Champions League appearance since 2014/15, making tonight’s contest a milestone in their European return.
However, they will be without rising star Nico Williams, who misses out through injury.
For Arsenal, the spotlight will be on their young talents, particularly teenager Max Doman, who is chasing a Champions League record after recently becoming the second-youngest player ever to debut for the club’s senior team.
