Liverpool manager Arne Slot has turned down an approach from Ajax to take charge of the Dutch club ahead of the 2026–2027 season, despite growing speculation about his future at Anfield.
According to reports, Ajax explored the possibility of bringing Slot back to the Netherlands as part of their long-term managerial planning. The Dutch club’s sporting director, Jordi Cruyff, is said to be leading the search for a new head coach.
However, Slot has reportedly made clear that he is not interested in the move at this stage. He is understood to remain focused on continuing his role at Liverpool, even as the club faces scrutiny following a dip in results and their failure to challenge for the Premier League title.
Sources in the Netherlands indicate that informal contact was made to gauge Slot’s interest, but no positive response was received. He is said to prefer staying in England and continuing his project with Liverpool rather than returning to the Eredivisie for now.
Despite external speculation over his position, Slot is expected to remain in charge as Liverpool prepare for the next season, with no formal negotiations taking place regarding a departure.
