The Armenian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the Azerbaijani army started offensive operations in the south of the Karabakh region.

The ministry spokeswoman, Shushan Stepanyan, posted on her Facebook page: “Today, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the participation of members of the reserve forces carried out a large-scale attack in the southern sector of Armenia. "

Stepanyan also stated that the Azerbaijani army "does not consider the safety of the Iranian lands," adding that "huge numbers of enemy personnel and equipment are systematically and continuously destroyed."

Stepanyan affirmed that the Azerbaijani forces launched new missile strikes on the capital of the "Karabakh Republic."

Karabakh authorities announce the revulsion of the Azerbaijani attack:

Vagram Boghossian, spokesman for the President of the "Karabakh Republic", declared that "the enemy suffered massive losses in personnel and equipment as a result of very offensive strikes" directed by the republic's forces.

He added, "The massive attack launched by the enemy in the southern sector came as its last attempt to achieve a progression."

Earlier today, the Foreign Ministry in Armenia indicated that the Azerbaijani attack began after the allocation of a joint statement by the foreign ministers of  Russia, the United States and France about Karabakh in the Security and Cooperation Organization in Europe.
