Argentina wrapped up a perfect group-stage campaign by defeating Jordan 3-1 to finish atop Group J with maximum points.
The reigning South American champions controlled the contest from the outset, with Giovani Lo Celso opening the scoring in the 19th minute before Lautaro Martínez doubled the advantage from the penalty spot before halftime for his first-ever FIFA World Cup goal.
Jordan showed resilience after the break as substitute Mousa Al-Taamari pulled one back in the 55th minute to briefly raise hopes of a comeback.
However, Lionel Messi quickly restored Argentina's dominance, curling home a superb free-kick in the 80th minute to seal the victory.
The goal also strengthened Messi's position as the tournament's leading scorer with six goals and took his overall World Cup tally to 19.
The victory ensured Argentina completed the group stage with three wins from three matches and nine points, reinforcing their credentials as one of the strongest contenders for the 2026 FIFA World Cup title.
Jordan, meanwhile, finished bottom of the group without a point, bringing their World Cup campaign to an end despite a spirited effort against one of the tournament favorites.
