In a statement marking Arab Women's Day on February 1st, Dr. Kiwan called on the international community to adopt fair policies that ensure security and peace in the region.
Furthermore, the Director-General urged parents in Arab societies to protect girls and ensure their rights to education, health, employment, and equality. She expressed hope that the current year would bring increased safety and stability for women and girls.
