The Arab Observatory for Human Rights (AOHR) condemned the assassination of the Palestinian journalist and Al-Jazeera correspondent

Shireen Abu Akleh by the Israeli occupying forces with treacherous bullets, considering it a flagrant violation of the norms and principles of international humanitarian law and a blatant encroachment on freedom of the press and information and the right to expression, in violation of all laws and customs prohibiting the targeting of Media crews under any circumstances.

The AOHR stressed that the heinous crime of the Israeli occupation reflects its systematic and deliberate policy targeting journalists to blur the truth and continue committing crimes of field executions against journalists, in an orderly attempt to silence the truth and cover up the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people, in an extension of the record of grave crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation on a daily basis against the Palestinian people.

The AOHR called for a thorough investigation and for the perpetrators of the assassination of Abu Akleh to be held accountable before international justice, and expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family and relatives of the deceased, asking God the Almighty to inspire her family, followers and relatives patience and solace.
