Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of League of Arab League, received this evening at the General Secretariat headquarters, Masad Boulos, US Senior Advisor to the President for Arab and African Affairs.
The meeting covered the latest developments on regional files, foremost among them the situations in Sudan and Libya.
Gamal Roshdy, Official Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the meeting included a detailed discussion on the recent US efforts regarding a ceasefire in Sudan and ending humanitarian violations there, alongside exploring possible political solutions.
The two sides also addressed the developments in the Libyan scene and ways to enhance the chances of reaching a comprehensive settlement that achieves stability in the country and preserves the unity of its institutions.
Moreover, Aboul Gheit stressed during the meeting the importance of the Arab League's role in supporting peace and stability in the region, and the necessity of strengthening coordination with international partners to formulate sustainable solutions for regional crises, especially in Sudan and Libya.
Furthermore, Secretary-General welcomed an official invitation to visit the United States at the conclusion of the meeting, emphasizing the League's commitment to continuing dialogue with the US Administration to deepen cooperation on regional issues and discuss prospects for supporting stability and development in the Arab world.
Additionally, both sides agreed on the importance of raising the level of consultation and coordination between the Arab League and the US Administration on various files of mutual interest.
