Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, stressed that Israel's resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip is an inhumane act and a challenge to the international will that supported the ceasefire reached as a way to end the war in Gaza.
Jamal Rushdi, the Secretary-General's official spokesperson, quoted Aboul Gheit as asserting that the leaders of the Israeli occupation are waging an internal battle at the expense of the blood of children and women in Gaza, risking the lives of Israeli hostages in the Strip, and ignoring the ceasefire agreement, which was supposed to enter its second phase these days.
Aboul Gheit stressed the need for the international community to speak out loudly to stop this massacre targeting a people under siege and denied medical and humanitarian aid in an unprecedented campaign of starvation, systematic killing, and ethnic cleansing.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League called on the international community to pressure Israel to immediately halt military operations and return to ceasefire negotiations in order to reach a comprehensive agreement that includes a prisoner exchange and a definitive end to the war.
