Arab League Receives Russian, Iraq Ambassadors

​Ambassador Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the International Political Affairs Sector, received His Excellency Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, and His Excellency Ambassador Georgy Borisenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Arab Republic of Egypt, in his office at the headquarters of the League of Arab States on 9 September.

The meeting was held in preparation for the first Arab-Russian Summit, scheduled for 15 October 2025, in Moscow, with the seventh session of the Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum to precede it on 13 October.

Ambassador Dr. Manzalawi stressed that the positions and initiatives adopted by the Russian Federation on the international political stage—particularly with regard to Arab issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause—reflect its growing interest in strengthening partnerships with the Arab world. He underlined the importance of further reinforcing cooperation mechanisms with the Russian Federation and expressed his hope that the summit would produce ambitious and effective outcomes that meet the aspirations of both the Arab and Russian sides.
