Khaled Abdel Aziz, head of Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation, met Thursday with Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Chief of the Arab League’s Media and Communication Sector, to prepare for next week’s 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.
The talks, held at the council’s headquarters in Cairo, focused on organizational and media-related issues expected to top the ministerial agenda. Khattabi expressed appreciation for Egypt as host country and praised the council’s constitutional mandate in safeguarding media freedom, diversity and responsible digital communication.
He also commended the council’s constructive initiatives within the broader Arab media system, describing its role as pivotal in advancing professional standards across the region. Khattabi thanked the council for its support in organizing the upcoming session and lauded Egyptian media outlets — alongside their Arab counterparts — for their consistent, professional coverage of Arab League activities
