The League of Arab States marked March 2 as Health Martyrs’ Day across the Arab world, honoring medical workers who lost their lives while performing their humanitarian duties.
In a statement, the Arab League’s General Secretariat said the commemoration follows summit and ministerial decisions recognizing the sacrifices of health professionals and underscoring that their legacy should inspire future generations of Arab medical staff.
The day pays tribute to doctors, nurses and health workers who died in service, particularly in conflict-affected areas such as Palestine and Sudan, where medical teams continue working under extreme conditions.
The Secretariat also praised the initiative proposed by Saudi Arabia, reaffirming the importance of advancing health systems in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
