The Arab League is set to hold a two-day workshop on disability classification in Arab countries on Jan. 19–20, 2026, in Tunisia, as part of efforts to strengthen the rights of persons with disabilities across the region.
Organized by the League’s General Secretariat in coordination with Tunisia’s Ministry of Social Affairs, the workshop falls within the implementation of the Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities (2023–2032), endorsed by the Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia in 2023 under an initiative launched by Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Tunisia’s Minister of Social Affairs Issam Ahmar is scheduled to attend, along with senior Arab officials, specialists from social affairs ministries, and representatives of U.N. agencies.
The workshop aims to enhance understanding and application of the Arab disability classification as a strategic tool to support inclusive policies and improve services for persons with disabilities.
