The League of Arab States condemned the burning of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque in the village of Tel, south of Nablus in the West Bank, describing the incident as a serious violation of international humanitarian law and principles protecting freedom of religion and religious property.
In a statement issued by its Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector, the Arab League said targeting places of worship fuels hatred and violence and undermines efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability. It added that attacks on religious sites constitute a clear breach of international conventions that safeguard cultural and religious landmarks.
The League called on the international community and the United Nations to take concrete steps to halt such incidents, ensure protection for places of worship, and conduct a transparent international investigation to hold those responsible accountable. It also urged activation of international mechanisms to protect civilians and prevent further attacks that threaten regional security.
