The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on Sunday condemned the targeting of the Saudi hospital in El Fasher, describing it as a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law in Sudan, which tragically claimed the lives of innocent civilians.
The Secretary-General also denounced the deliberate burning of the Al-Jaili oil refinery north of Khartoum, calling it a systematic attack on vital civilian infrastructure. He emphasized that such actions exacerbate Sudan's deteriorating economic situation and worsen the suffering of its people.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the Arab League reiterates the necessity of full adherence to the provisions of the Jeddah Agreement on Humanitarian Ceasefire, signed in May 2023. The agreement mandates the protection of public and medical facilities, hospitals, and water and electricity installations, as well as refraining from their use for military purposes.
