Secretary-General of Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has condemned the consecutive Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, reaffirming the League's full solidarity with the Lebanese state in the face of what he described as assaults on its territory and assets.
In a statement issued by the Arab League, Aboul Gheit strongly denounced the Israeli raids targeting civilian infrastructure and state assets, including bridges destroyed by Israeli forces, as well as strikes hitting residential areas in the capital, Beirut.
He warned of the grave risks these attacks pose to the civilian population.
The Secretary-General underscored the Arab League's complete solidarity with the Lebanese state, noting that the Lebanese government is actively seeking to prevent the expansion of war within the region.
Furthermore, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Gamal Roshdy, reiterated support for the Lebanese government's decision to prohibit the military and security activities of Hezbollah, working towards ensuring that all weaponry remains exclusively under the authority of the Lebanese state.
The statement also pointed out that Israeli plans to re-occupy Lebanese territories reflect a rejected and condemned expansionist policy.
It emphasized that such moves hinder the implementation of Lebanese government resolutions and further complicate the security situation in the country.
