The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, to discuss regional developments and Arab diplomatic efforts within the UN Security Council.

The conversation focused on the pivotal role played by Bahrain—the current Arab representative on the Security Council—in mobilizing support for a draft resolution condemning Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan.

Aboul Gheit emphasized that the persistent Iranian strikes on civilian facilities in several Arab nations reflect a calculated insistence on "misguided gambles," dragging the region into a conflict that these countries never sought.

The Secretary-General asserted that attacks on sovereign states cannot be justified under any pretext, stressing that Arab nations firmly reject the use of their lands or resources as an arena for settling regional scores.

Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, conveyed Aboul Gheit’s statement that the Security Council's adoption of the resolution with a 13-vote majority reflects a broad international rejection of Iranian hostilities.

He added that the vote serves as a clear testament to Arab solidarity with the affected nations.
