The Arab League marked Arab Population and Development Day by urging global unity to protect human progress amid rising geopolitical tensions and conflicts. The League warned that wars and occupation in Arab territories threaten decades of development gains and could derail efforts to achieve the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
In a statement, the organization emphasized that people are “the core and heart of development,” calling for inclusive, rights-based policies that place human dignity at the center of progress. It stressed that diverting resources from development to military spending undermines stability and prosperity.
“Human capital is the true engine of development,” the League said, warning that the loss of youth, doctors, and engineers sets societies back by decades. It called for investing in peace, saving lives, and ending bloodshed to build a sustainable future for all.
