A senior Arab delegation has concluded a high-level visit to China aimed at advancing preparations for the second Arab-Chinese Summit, scheduled to be hosted by China later this year.
The delegation, comprising permanent representatives of Arab states to the Arab League and senior officials from the League’s General Secretariat, visited China from Jan. 13 to 16 at the invitation of the Chinese government. The Arab side was led by Iraqi Ambassador Qahtan Taha Khalaf, while the Arab League delegation was headed by Assistant Secretary-General Khaled bin Mohammed Manzalawi.
On the first day, the delegation met Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu in Beijing. Consultations were also held with senior Chinese officials, led by Chen Weiqing, Director General for West Asia and North Africa at China’s Foreign Ministry, focusing on summit preparations and expected outcomes.
The visit, which included meetings in Beijing and Shanghai, follows recommendations from the 20th Senior Officials’ Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum held in Morocco in May 2025.
