The Arab-African Cultural Institute convened the 9th session of its temporary Executive Council at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo from Dec. 1–2, bringing together representatives from the League’s Africa and Arab-African Cooperation Department, the Culture and Dialogue of Civilizations Department, the African Union Commission, ALECSO, the Institute itself, and the League’s mission in Addis Ababa.
Established in 2002 and headquartered in Bamako, Mali, the Institute is the only official cultural body jointly created by the Arab League and the African Union. Participants underscored its growing role in strengthening Arab-African cultural ties and reviewed its administrative and financial reports, along with planned activities for 2025–2026. Discussions also addressed the Institute’s financial, security, and administrative conditions.
Officials agreed to hold the 10th session of the temporary Executive Council during the first quarter of next year at the headquarters of ALECSO in Tunis.
