AP Speaker, Uzbekistan Amb. Show Common Will to Enhance Relations

The President of the Arab Parliament (AP), Hon. Mr. Adel Bin AbdulRahman Al-Asoomi, met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Cairo, H.E. Mansurbek Bakhtyarovich, to discuss the best ways to enhance Arab States-Uzbekistan relations as well as several other issues of shared interests.

During their meeting at the headquarters of the AP in Cairo, Al-Asoomi emphasized the importance of strengthening Arab-Uzbek relations and discussed issues of cooperation between the Arab and Islamic worlds, according to a statement released by the AP.

The chairman of the Arab Parliament stressed the importance of strengthening Arab relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan as an important Islamic state, and underlined the keenness of the AP to strengthen relations with it at the parliamentary level based on the constructive discussions he held with the Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan in the Spanish capital, Madrid, on the margins of their participation in the meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

On his part, the Ambassador of the Islamic Asian state in Cairo affirmed the eagerness of his country to reinforce relations with Arab countries at all levels, notably at the parliamentary level.

They discussed the best ways to foster parliamentary relations between the Arab States and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a number of issues of common concern, such as women’s empowerment and human rights, as well as issues related to the operationalization of cooperation between the Arab and Islamic worlds.

Moreover, the two officials agreed to support Arab issues in all international forums that combine them.
