Lebanese President Michel Aoun, on Thursday, during his meeting with the Force Commander of the (UNIFIL) Stefano Del Col, stated that the demarcation of the maritime borders would begin at “Rosh Hanikra Grottoes.”

During his meeting with Del Col, at the Baabda Palace in Beirut, Aoun mentioned  that the demarcation of the maritime borders must start from the line at the tip of  “Rosh Hanikra Grottoes” according to the midline technique without causing any effect on the coastal islands of conquered Palestine.

He also expressed his hope that the ongoing negotiations to demarcate the southern maritime borders would yield results through which Lebanon might restore its rights based on international laws.

The Lebanese president stressed the necessity of correcting the "Blue Line" in order to match the internationally recognized borders.

On his part, Del Col expressed his complete satisfaction with the ongoing negotiations to demarcate the southern maritime borders.

The Lebanese and Israeli sides held the fourth round of indirect negotiations on demarcating the maritime borders, last week, at the United Nations headquarters in ‘Rosh Hanikra Grottoes’, in the presence of a representative of the United States of America.
