Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani invited Friday Monaco residents and international news agencies to visit Egypt to attend the upcoming ceremony, which will mark the 116th anniversary of the establishment of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir square.

Egypt welcomes with open arms all visitors who seek to enjoy its ancient civilization and unique antiquities, Anani said.

The minister also invited them to visit archaeological sites and museums, which the Antiquities Ministry is currently renovating, according to a statement by the ministry.

The tourism and antiquities ministers held a joint press conference at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco city ahead of the inauguration of "The Golden Treasures Pharaohs - 2500 Years of the Goldsmith's Art in Ancient Egypt" exhibition, it added.

Speaking to Italian and French reporters, Anani said 149 artifacts, including two pieces of famed pharaoh King Tutankhamun's collection, are displayed at the exhibition.

These pieces send a message of peace to the whole world, the minister said, underlining that these artifacts represent Egypt's soft power.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Rania el Mashat stressed the importance of reviving external exhibitions as they do not only show the breathtaking beauty of the Egyptian civilization, but they also help promote tourism in Egypt.
