On Friday, the Iraqi consulate in Istanbul was attacked by anonymous shooters with no reported injuries.
AFP cited statements from the Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson, revealing that the incident did not result in casualties or damage.
"This evening, individuals on a motorcycle fired shots at the Iraqi Consulate General in Istanbul. There were no human or material losses," said spokesperson Oncu Keçeli in a statement.
He added that "security forces are conducting a thorough investigation, and identification efforts are underway."
Keçeli also pledged that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
On its side, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry confirmed that the attack took place on Friday. The assailants, riding a motorcycle, fired eight rounds from a Kalashnikov before fleeing the site.
Immediately after the incident, the Iraqi Consul General and consular representatives arrived at the site to inspect the scene.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of strengthening security measures to protect diplomatic missions in accordance with international agreements.
