Oscar-winner Anna Paquin will star in Netflix's upcoming Australian family movie, "True Spirit".
Avatar franchise star Cliff Curtis and Oscar nominee Josh Lawson will also star in the movie.
"True Spirit" is based on the true story of Australian sailor Jessica Watson, who at 16 became the youngest person to sail solo, nonstop, and unassisted around the globe in 2010. She navigated some of the world’s most challenging stretches of ocean and survive seven knockdowns while at sea for 210 days.
Watson will be working with cast on the movie.
The movie also will feature Teagan Croft as Watson, Paquin will play her mother Julie, Lawson will portray her father Roger, while Curtis will star as her coach, Ben Bryant.
"True Spirit" is slated to be shot in Queensland and Sydney later this year with a predominantly local cast and crew.
Sarah Spillane directs from her adapted script of Jessica Watson’s bestselling memoir of the same title. Rebecca Banner handled revisions.
Moreover, Susan Cartsonis will serve as producer for Resonate Entertainment; Debra Martin Chase for Martin Chase Productions, and Andrew Fraser for Sunstar Entertainment, with Clément Bauer co-producing for Resonate Entertainment.
Paquin currently stars on the Amazon Prime series "Flack", which she also executive produces.
