English football fans will turn their attention to Anfield on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. local time, where Liverpool will face a formidable challenge against Manchester City in a fixture that could play a decisive role in shaping the Premier League title race.

The encounter comes as part of Matchday 25 of the season.

This highly anticipated clash goes beyond the battle for three points, carrying added intrigue with a potential Egyptian duel between Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah and Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush.

The two stars recently shared the pitch with Egypt’s national team, helping guide the Pharaohs to the Africa Cup of Nations semifinals in a tournament that concluded last month in Morocco.

Liverpool’s hopes rest heavily on Salah, a player renowned for delivering on the biggest stages, particularly against Manchester City.

The Egyptian forward has faced the reigning champions 24 times in his career, recording nine wins, six draws, and nine defeats, statistics that underline both the intensity of the rivalry and Salah’s consistent influence in marquee fixtures.

On an individual level, Salah continues his pursuit of history. He currently sits second on the all-time scoring list in matches between Liverpool and Manchester City with 13 goals, just two behind club legend Ian Rush.

A remarkable hat-trick against City would see him move outright to the top of that historic chart.

While much of the spotlight remains on Salah, Omar Marmoush will be eager to make his own mark at Anfield.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are driven by a desire for redemption following their heavy 3–0 defeat to Manchester City in the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

Encouraged by a dominant 4–1 win over Newcastle last weekend, the Reds will look to capitalize on home advantage and the energy of the Anfield crowd.

Currently sitting sixth with 39 points, Liverpool have seen their title hopes fade, shifting their focus toward securing a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.

It has been a challenging campaign for the Merseyside club, falling short of expectations despite significant investment during the summer transfer window.
